IFAW AAW is an annual international event organised to generate environment awareness among school children. In 2008, the AAW with the theme "Beneath the Waves – Protecting Marine Wildlife", saw an active participation by about a million students in India alone.

Journey of the whale shark - then and now (part 1)
Whale shark, the world's largest fish was once brutally hunted in the western Indian state of Gujarat. Four years of the Whale shark campaign, a joint venture of the Gujarat Forest Department, Tata Chemicals Limited and IFAW-WTI, has turned the whale shark into an icon. The fish listed under Schedule I of the Indian WPA, now enjoys protection of the fishermen in Gujarat, many of whom have even sacrificed their nets to release trapped individuals.
