Conflict Mitigation (CM)

This division conducts projects that mitigate human-wildlife conflict in select high risk conflict areas.

It also seeks to identify critical areas and causes of conflict for specific species and implements conflict mitigation measures to decrease such incidents in the future. It also aims at creating awareness among local people for precautionary measures that needs to be observed during such conflicts. Human-elephant conflict has been identified as one of the most important conservation priorities in the elephant bearing areas.

Apart from elephants other species causing extensive conflict that needs to be addressed may include wild cats, canids, bears, wild boar, macaques and antelope.
