HABITAT RECOVERY (HR)

This division of the Wild Lands Programme helps to identify and reclaim crucial wildlife habitats or ranges of threatened wildlife.

In brief, its main objectives are t o identify and recover critically endangered wildlife habitats and reclaim the historical range of threatened species.

Habitat degradation and fragmentation are some of the major threats facing the wildlife habitats today and forms an important cause of decline in wildlife populations. This problem is more acute in larger animals since they occupy more space for living.

Habitat recovery projects envisage reclamation of crucial wildlife habitats through habitat management or adequate interventions for habitat recovery.
