WILD RESCUE
The Wild Rescue Programme is conceptualized as a rehabilitation and veterinary skills unit of the conservation department of WTI. Its primary objectives are to rescue, rehabilitate and release distressed and diseased wild animals, by providing them appropriate health care and veterinary services.
The programme entails rescues of temporarily disadvantaged wild animals which have been confiscated, injured, maimed, orphaned, sick or stray due to various endogenous factors. It seeks to optimize the conservation value and reintroduction potential of the rescued animals back to the wild, following prescribed international guidelines on rehabilitation, reintroduction and monitoring.
It also seeks to promote ethical and humane methods of handling, maintenance and treatment of wild animals, efficient and timely veterinary services for both captive and wild animals and diligent management practices of viable wildlife populations for their long term conservation.
To accomplish these goals and aims, the following three thematic divisions were incorporated in the wild rescue program:

Problems of disease, wildlife displacement, loss of genetic diversity, natural calamities, man-made calamities, wildlife crimes such as poisoning and injury to wild animals, man-animal conflicts and welfare issues are addressed by these three thematic divisions.
These three divisions will seek out preventive measures by immunizing livestock against infectious diseases, disease investigation, treatment and control, rescue rehabilitation and release, movement of reproductive individuals and translocation of animals in groups across demes, disaster relief, vaccination of livestock to boost immune levels to prevent disease transmission to wildlife, translocation of problem or surplus animals, animal tracking through tagging, collaring and chipping and welfare measures.
