LANDS
The Wild Lands Programme is conceptualized as a habitat ecology and realty skill unit of WTI.
Its main objective is tocreate a buffer zone to the Protected Area Network of the country by identifying, prioritizing, securing and managing privately owned wild lands of critical importance. Restoration of wildlife habitats of the existing protected areas in the country for long term conservation of threatened wild species are its other priority areas.
In brief, the primary objectives of this programme;
- To identify and prioritize critical wildlife habitats and corridors of endangered species.
- To acquire, cause to acquire or secure such critical wildlife habitats and corridors.
- To assist in the monitoring and management of such secured and acquired wild lands.
- To assist the government for expanding the Protected Area Network.
- To help restore, recover or manage threatened and crucial wildlife habitats.
For the purpose of securing these goals and aims the following three thematic divisions are incorporated in the Wild Lands Programme;

The primary focus areas of these three divisions is to minimize threats of man-animal conflicts in wildlife areas, prevent habitat degradation and fragmentation, control wildlife crimes and adequate measures for tackling natural calamities.
These divisions will work towards habitat securement (anti-encroachment drives), land use planning, problem animal management, habitat management and habitat recovery.
