LEGAL SUPPORT (LS)

This division seeks to provide legal assistance to concerned authorities for pursuing critical wildlife cases for protection of wildlife and their habitat and to ensure that justice is delivered to the accused.

Its main objectives are;

• To provide legal assistance to concerned authorities for pursuing critical wildlife cases through WTI lawyers and associates.

• To document the change in rate of conviction of wildlife accused.

• To litigate through PILs, criminal or civil cases so as to curb wildlife crime and fight for species and habitat conservation.

• To make available relevant case laws, judgments and other materials in an easily accessible format to a broader audience.

This division engages legal practitioners specialized in the Wildlife (Protection) Act of India, the Forest Conservation Act and other ancillary laws e.g. CRPC, PCA etc. Relevant authorities are assisted by this team of lawyers for intervention in cases at courts and other forums.
