AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS
This division aims to conduct conservation campaigns, among specific target groups, that change perceptions, impact awareness and educate.
Our current campaigns include:
|
Its basic objectives are;
- To build awareness among consumers of wildlife products so as to eliminate demand.
- To assist in identifying and promoting alternatives to the use of wildlife derivatives.
- To encourage celebrities to promote non-consumerism of wildlife products.
- To conduct advocacy and lobby politically to achieve wildlife conservation aims
- To target communities that poach, trade or consume wildlife resources and where appropriate to conduct awareness campaigns amongst them.
- To build a sense of pride in communities about local species and natural habitats through awareness programmes and mass media.
- To convince people at grass root level to adopt a lifestyle that does not pose a threat to the survival of endangered species and habitats.
A campaign is defined as a full-fledged communication process, which is geared to meet the objectives of a specific conservation plan. A campaign could be an exhaustive and large one requiring considerable resources and time and covering a vast area. It could also be a localized, area-specific small campaign. The methods to implement the campaign activities are determined by the requirements of each specific campaign goal.
