Study on illegal wildlife trade in two states

New Delhi, April 16, 2002: In September 2001, WTI was awarded a contract by the Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal forest departments to conduct a nine-month study of the illegal trade in wildlife, its parts and products in these two states, including the Indo-Nepal trade.

WTI has collected extensive wildlife trade data from market and official sources, and gathered information on trade centers and trade routes. The final report has been submitted to the Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal state forest department for comments.
